What we do

The parent council helps parents and carers be a part of enhancing their children’s school environment and experience. We:

  • Fundraise and organise social events to provide more opportunities for the children and improve their school environment
  • Help the school in its work with pupils
  • Take account of the views of parents and discuss these with the head teacher and the council
  • Take part in appointing promoted staff
  • Encourage links between the school, parents and carers, pupils, pre-school groups and the community
  • Support the school in developing home and school partnerships
  • Make use of the skills, knowledge and experience that parents can offer

How you can help

All parents/carers are part of Brunstane Primary School parent forum and you can express your views via the parent council.

The parent council is also open to anyone who wants to use their time and skills to help their child and others more, through their time at Brunstane Primary School.

There are also other simple ways you can support the school <link to other simple ways to support the school>

The school run a ‘grab and go’ on Fridays at 12:15 in the edible garden next to the school main gate.

Other simple ways to support the school

Through shopping – Tesco Extra Musselburgh has selected our new school community library as a candidate for a Tesco Community Grant! Ask for blue tokens at the checkout and put them in the voting stand as you leave. And thank you so much for your support.

Through recycling – Did you know the school is part of two recycling schemes through Terracycle and Empties Please?

Simply give us your flexible cheese packaging and we can recycle the waste through the Terracycle cheese packaging recycling programme and support the school at the same time! For the types of packaging accepted, see the accepted waste poster

Through Empties Please, we can take certain ink cartridges and ink toners and turn them into funds towards school activities. Check if you have the ink cartridges or ink toners that are accepted (original brands please) and please send them on if you do.

Through your business – We are grateful to Mark Slater Joinery for sponsoring our Active Schools Programme this term. If you’re and organisation that would like to support the children learn new skills and keep active in the future, please get in touch.

Recent news
